Conference Dinner

Our conference dinner on Tuesday evening will take place at Umspannwerk Kreuzberg, which is the most prominent historical monument of Berlin's industrial architecture of the 1920's. Constructed by architect Hans Heinrich Müller between 1924 and 1926 the former transformer station was the first of its kind in Berlin. It was used to transform high voltage to low voltage using transformers. Due to its size and impressive look Berliners called the building "Cathedral of Electricity".

It was shut down in 1989 and re-opened as privately owned site after careful refurbishment in 2002. Features like the wooden roof of the main event hall, the heating system and a big crane are documents of former times. Since 2005 the former transformer station hosts all kinds of events like international conferences, company partys and fashion shows. Until today the landmarked site is one of Berlin's most important examples of industrial architecture which combines cutting edge technology and the charm of the old.
